Quick thoughts on…
“The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants.” Not only a chick flick, it’s a teen chick flick. But should you ignore the movie based on that fact alone? I give the film A-. Gee, what could be my reasons for doing so?

THE SISTERHOOD OF THE TRAVELING PANTS (2005)

Starring:
Amber Tamblyn, America Ferrera, Alexis Bledel, Jenna Boyd, Blake Lively

Director:
Ken Kwapis

A “magical” pair of jeans is supposed to stitch together the summer stories of four gal pals (Amber Tamblyn, America Ferrera, Alexis Bledel, and Blake Lively). Yeah, what a chick flick premise. Luckily, the film is more than it seems. The young cast of actresses is very talented and the four stories from each girl are all satisfying executed. I was really surprised how the film got to me. There are couple of scenes that could turn on the waterworks. Amber Tamblyn especially stands out as a cynical teenager, who’s making a “suckumentary.” The possible turn-off is Ferrera’s Carmen, who could be so melodramatic. But overall, the movie is really good.GRADE: A-
